Key Biscayne's Waalay Yoga Center

Waalay was created by longtime Key Biscayne Residents Miriam Mengotti and Maria Erhardt to serve the Key Biscayne Yoga Community.

"Waalay"- means Sunrise in Quechua, the language of the Incas.

Every sunrise brings a new day, an awakening: a new light into our lives. This is what we want you to feel at Waalay.

Waalay is a center in Key Biscayne, where you can practice yoga, meditation and breathing techniques or just simply come and enjoy a nice and relaxing massage in a peaceful, quiet, clean and noncompetitive atmosphere.

In Waalay you can find a diversity of yoga instructors that support and guide you according to your individual needs.

Waalay is a place of reunion, where everyone in the Key Biscayne yoga community can meet and gather with their yoga friends as family, and feel supported and relaxed.

The wellness of the body, the mind, the spirit and the heart is our main priority, always respecting diversity of cultures, religions and languages.

Yoga is for everyone and for everyday.

"It is not what we do but how much love we bring into what we do"

Mother Teresa

What is yoga and what are the benefits of yoga?

The word 'yoga' means 'union' in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where Yoga originated.

Yoga is not a religion or a political movement, it respects all cultures and nations.

We can think of (a) union between the mind, the body, and the spirit.

Yoga refers to traditional postures that bring strength and flexibility to the body. The most important aspect of Yoga is the breath. Mindfulness breathing and "Pranayama" (breath control) are part of the practice, helping the mind to become still and relaxed and enabling us to appreciate the entirety of each moment.

The benefits of Yoga are endless!

• Stress reduction

• Improved circulation and digestion

• Improved flexibility, muscle tone, and joint mobility

• Improved strength and stamina

• Increased lung capacity

Everyone can benefit from practicing yoga, regardless of their fitness level.

Even though with practice you can achieve more challenging poses, yoga is meant to be inner work where the qualities cultivated while practicing (endurance, patience, flexibility, awareness) constitute the core of the practice.
